At the end of last week my second graders had time to finish up their first CHOICE ART projects. They are the youngest grade doing choice art and so their learning curve is a little slower but they are starting to get the hang of it! These are from all three of the classes. As you can see the kids get to make art about something that interests them but they need to make sure their art communicates their ideas effectively to a viewer which can be hard for this age. The simpler the better and they are learning what muddies up an idea and what puts focus on it.

K and 1 made guided drawing bears that they cut out and pasted on big plain paper where their imaginations were given the freedom to run wild. Dream up a setting for your bear to live in or be visiting. I love the whimsy and the energy their quick coloring brings to the image.

Enjoy your weekend! Looking forward to opening the collage center next week!
