Hi! It has been a great full week in the art studio! Second through fifth grade began their first choice art projects. This is where they come up with a concept for what they want to create, figure out their why, plan their materials best suited for the project, identify an element of art to focus on and execute! A lot all at once and they were ready for the task. Below you will see the first stage sketching of many artworks from all different grades. I am so proud of their enthusiasm and creativity. For the first choice art project only the drawing center is open but should this go well you can expect to see collage, 3--d construction, and printmaking in the future!

Kindergarten and 1st grade worked on the element TEXTURE through the creation of mountain COLLAGE LANDSCAPES. First they created texture on their colored papers using rubbing plates and oil pastels. We then ripped our papers to look like bumpy and/or pointy mountains and glued them on. Lastly some colorful skies to complete the scenes. This was a big project for these early learners with a lot of steps and they had a lot of pride in the finished art.

Lastly, a reminder that Monday is DOT DAY! Please have your kiddos wear dots to celebrate the idea of making our mark on the world. I will be decorating the whole school in their beautiful dot day artwork and we will all sing the dot day song during the lions den at the end of the day. Have a great weekend everyone!
