Hi Jane Ryan families! I am so thrilled to have gotten to see all of my students again and meet many of my new kiddos. I did not get to see my Monday classes yet- that will have to wait for another week.

Every class reviewed or learned for the first time the expectations of the Art Studio, and how things work in the room or have changed.
Following the introductions we started working on our Dot Day Artwork. Every year on Dot Day I hang all of the students work all over the building so they see dots everywhere as a way to make things special for everyone. The older grades 2-5 made peace signs using a compass and tempera paint. They were asked to make it original to them so that it will be easy for them to spot theirs amongst the mass of peace signs.

The younger grades worked in centers to make abstract dot filled explorations. We discussed all of the things we could think of that are dot or circle shaped for inspiration and then they went from center to center using different art materials to bring their dot ideas to life. At this stage especially with K it is very exploratory and sensory seeking using the supplies to express what their body feels. The outcomes are great and everyone had fun doing it!

If you didn't see my welcome letter yet, here is a copy for you. There is a list of supplies needed as a donation to the art room. Please try to have your student bring them in by end of next week. Have a great long weekend! :)
